L'art n'a pas d'histoire : tel est le paradoxe, a priori déconcertant mais en vérité stimulant, que les diverses études ici réunies soutiennent en ne cessant de se confronter aux oeuvres elles-mêmes : à celles poétiques de Du Bouchet ou de Holderlin, à celles picturales de Tal Coat, de Cézanne, de Staël ou de Bosch, ou encore à quelques oeeuvres singulières de sculpteurs et d'architectes. Toutefois, se rendre attentif à l'unicité comme à la fragilité des oeuvres d'art n'est possible qu'au prix d'un renouvellement profond de la parole phénoménologique. Contre toute intentionnalité ou tout projet, il s'agit de méditer ces rencontres qu'on ne saurait attendre et qui, surgissant tel l'éclair de l'être, nous saisissent. Ainsi l'art a, parfois, ce pouvoir de nous confronter à l'ouvert de l'existence. Cette nouvelle édition est augmentée d'un cahier iconographique. -- Art doesn't have a history. The historian and the sociologist perceive art in a false light, and are then blinded by the wonderful fragility of its emergence, by the uniqueness of its temporality, its isolated solitude. This paradox, which founds a vision and expression that are specifically phenomenological, is defended by the different studies assembled here with their unique words and the unique works of André de Bouchet, Tal Coat or Cézanne - and many others - but also works of sculpture or architecture. Completely orientated towards the common fragility of beauty and existence, this reception of the artwork in its uniqueness imposes a total re-elaboration of traditional and existential ontologies; to take its distance from discourse that attempts to explain the work of art by the project it incarnates, to stand in front of the work and receive what it conveys simply by being what it is.
